A GUIDE TO SELF-CARE
Updated: Oct 31, 2018
If you know me, you know I'm a HUGE advocate for self-care. I know the saying, "You can't pour from an empty cup" is so cliché, but it is so true. Every day I do at least one thing that pours into my cup since my entire day consists of me pouring out. When people think of self-care they immediately think of face masks and bubble baths. While these things can definitely contribute to self-care, to me it's much deeper than that.
Set Time Aside for Yourself
At the beginning and/or end of your day, set time aside for just yourself. Don't pick up your phone, and just set at least 15 minutes of your time to check in with yourself. How do you feel today? What is your body telling you? We spend our entire days going full speed, checking off our to-do lists, going to sleep and then starting all over again the next day. I know I am not the only one who thinks that is absolutely draining. Something I've realized is when I set time aside for myself, pouring back into my cup, I feel renewed and ready to accomplish what I need to get done.
How do you feel today? What is your body telling you?
Pouring back into your cup can be different things according to what you feel like you need. Some days I really need to put away my phone listen to an uplifting podcast or sermon. On other days, I go to yoga or read a book. When we finally set time aside to do things for ourselves, it's rejuvenating. When you feel good, it shows in everything that you do. I hope this post inspires some of you to set time aside just for yourself today. When you do, comment below and tell me about it!
