It's Time To Live & Love Better
As the deeply rooted injustice and hate in our world is revealed, my heart gets heavier. It's so hard to understand the hate in our world, but we can't escape it. God calls us all to love one another and I always do the best that I can to do so.
While last week was extremely sad and heavy, it has opened my eyes to so much. I hate that it's taken me this long to truly see the reality of evil in our world, but I know that now more than ever it's time to stand for what is right.
So my question is, how can we live better and what can we do to help?
There is a lot that needs to be done and it isn't something that is going to happen overnight. I believe that the racism, hate and injustice in our world today is a part of a bigger picture. All of this stems from the heart. Benjamin Watson states in perfectly in the video below. I HIGHLY recommend you watch this before continuing.
Sadly, in the middle of this CNN cut off Benjamin Watson on live television and didn't allow him to continue. Although, what he did touch base on is the root of the problem.
Everyone acting out in hatred when people don't agree with them is a heart problem. We aren't extending grace to others.
People in this world not seeing us all as equal because we look different is a heart problem. We aren't loving the way Jesus wanted us to love one another.
3 Things We Can Do To Live, Love and Be Better:
Pray for those who have hate in their heart.
Pray for God to reveal judgmental or prejudice attitudes you may have in your heart.
Pray for our country to come together in unity and love.
Pray for your eyes to be open to the injustice around you.
Pray for the courage to stand up for those who are treated unfairly.
Pray that your heart would overflow so that you can you can spread God's love and grace to everyone you encounter.
Pray for those who are hurting and who don't feel safe.
Pray that our country would realize Who to put their hope in and Who can truly save us from the sin we have in our hearts.
Listen to those around you who may be more knowledgable than you.
Be humble enough to listen to others' opinions without bashing them because they don't see what you see.
Listen to those who have experienced what you haven't.
You don't have to understand, but just listen to gain perspective.
Extend grace and just listen.
The Bible calls us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We need to make sure we are being influenced by the right things! There's plenty of documentaries and books that address everything going on in our world today. Most importantly, what does God say on how we're supposed to live? Get into The Word!
God first loved us so we can extend the same unconditional love to others. God wants unity. God wants us to love each other and live in harmony. We need to allow His love to transform our hearts and lead us to repentance so we can TRULY love others as ourselves.
