MY MORNING ROUTINE

I truly believe that how you spend your morning sets the tone for the entire day. Setting aside just 15 minutes for yourself can have the biggest impact on your mood and productivity for your entire day. I notice a huge difference in myself when I don't follow my morning routines versus when I do. Here is what I do each morning in order! :)
I will be the first to admit that I am addicted to coffee and absolutely need it every morning. Not only do I need it for the caffeine, but I genuinely enjoy drinking it. Depending on what I'm feeling like that morning, I rotate through 3 different morning brews. One is Califia Farms XX Espresso Cold Brew Coffee, it's not overpoweringly sweet and it is so good! It's non-GMO, vegan and all that good stuff. If I don't have that, I'll make a latte recipe I've created with Better Brew syrups that you can find here. When I'm home in Houston, I'll drink HEB Cafe Ole Texas Pecan Coffee because my mom always makes it and it's so good! I also just learned about a new organic coffee sold online called Purity Coffee that I just ordered and I'm excited to try! I will follow up on a future blog and let y'all know how it is.
Morning Devotionals + Prayer
Spending time with God is also extremely important to me before I start my day. What better way to ease your mind and prepare for the day than talking to God? The Bible App has a ton of daily devotional plans for any topic you need. They don't take long to read and they have some great messages. Daily devotionals give me the encouragement I need to live each day with purpose and intention.
My time in prayer looks different each day. Sometimes I pray before I get my coffee and sometimes I'll pray after I meditate. Whenever I'm feeling a lot of emotions that I need to navigate through, I will include journaling that into my prayer. I've found that writing out my thoughts is like having therapy with myself (I know it sounds weird lol). Once I write it all down everything just makes more sense, it's hard to explain. Nonetheless, praying in the morning is necessary for me.
CBD Oil + Meditation
In case you haven't heard yet, CBD is basically the best thing ever. In a nutshell, all of us have an endocannabinoid system which plays a huge crucial role for functions that affect our every day life. These could be things such as how we experience pain, our energy levels, immune activity, and more. For me, it clears my mind, helps me feel less scatter-brained, regulates my emotions, and improves my energy throughout the day when I take it in the morning. CBD Oil combined with meditation is the perfect combination. I began practicing meditation earlier this year and it's been such a game changer for me! I talk about all of the benefits on meditation in a previous blog post, but I feel like it works hand in hand with CBD oil so well. It's very therapeutic for me and helps me start my day off in a calm manner instead of waking up and checking e-mails and starting my to-do list for the day. Even if I don't feel stressed or anxious, once I started meditating and taking CBD oil daily I noticed a huge difference in the way I react to certain situations. The Five Minute Journal
The Five Minute Journal has been a staple in my morning routine for a couple of years now. I'm on my second one and I absolutely love it. It helps me start and end each day with gratitude and positivity. On the top of every page is an inspiring quote or weekly challenge. The weekly challenges are additional actions you can do to spark joy in your life. Then, there are sections for you to write 3 things you're thankful for, 3 things that would make that day great and self-affirmations at the beginning of the day. At the end of each day, you write 3 great things that happened to you and how you could have made that day even better.
I really love listening to podcasts when I am getting ready for my day. My favorite podcasts at the moment are Girls Night and The Porch. They are both faith-rooted podcasts hosted by that talk about navigating through life and I just love both podcasts so much. It feels like I'm hanging out with a friend when I'm getting ready in the morning, as corny as that sounds.
If I don't listen to a podcast, I am on Youtube either watching a sermon, blog or make up tutorial. The sermons from Hope City and Transformation Church have honestly made the biggest impact on my life. I recommend these sermons to just about everyone. I also love watching make up tutorials from Katy, Desi Perkins and Jackie Aina. I watch or listen to these because these all bring me joy. Whether it is filling me up with God's truth or making me laugh, I will make sure to include it in my morning.
