Stop Playing It Safe

As I was sitting and having coffee with my friend Rachel (known on Instagram as @coffeewithrach), we had the BEST conversation about how dangerous playing it safe is. Not only will it hold you back from growing as an individual, but it can hold you back from seeing God show up in your life. If you continue to play it safe, you don't even give God the chance to show you what He can do. Why is this so dangerous? If you go through life not taking any risks, your faith will remain stagnant and you will continue to experience fear. The more you move boldly and let God show up, the more your faith will grow. You'll be able to stand firm, knowing that you don't need to rely on just yourself, but you can rely on Him. Do your part and let God take care of the rest.

Fear is real, but it is not from God

Some of the moments I have seen God move most in my life is when I decided to do something that scared me. Fear is real, but it is not from God. Joshua 1:9 says, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. " God is ALWAYS with you. In every situation and hardship, no matter how big or small. Don't let fear push you into a corner! Pray about it, let God in and see how much He will bless your situation. Facing situations that scare me forces me to lean on God and communicate with Him even more. Once you surrender over your situation and let Him take control, He will do more than you could have imagined!

Tips for when you find yourself overcome with fear:

- Make a list reminding yourself of all the other times God has shown up for you

- Remember that NOTHING is more powerful than God, no matter how scary or intimidating it is

- Listen to the song "No Longer Slaves" by Bethel Worship

- Remind yourself that even if the situation does not go the way you want it to, God will ALWAYS use it for your good. He knows what is best for us!

- Read Psalm 23:4, Psalm 34:4 and Psalm 27:1

I pray that this blog posts encourages you and reminds you of how faithful God is. I have been a victim of fear many times throughout my life, but no matter what God always showed up for me! Looking back, I wish I hadn't wasted so much time in fear and instead worshipped God for what He was doing and what He was going to do in my situation. Speak LIFE and FRUITION into your situation. I pray that any fear or anxiety you are feeling is lifted and that you begin to walk with the boldness God calls you to.
